Text-to-image, compared

One prompt in.
Every generator out.

Text-to-image tools all promise the same thing and hand back wildly different pictures. We put them side by side on the questions that decide a purchase — how closely each one follows the words, whether the text in the frame is readable, what the hands look like, and what the licence lets you keep.

House rules

How we keep this honest

Image generation is subjective enough without an invented scoring system on top of it. These are the constraints we work under, written down so you can hold us to them.

Judged like for like

Every tool is weighed on the same questions, with no per-tool special pleading to flatter a favourite. If one needs different phrasing to perform, that is a finding we report, not a correction we quietly make.

The misses count too

A highlight reel of best-case images tells you nothing useful. We describe what these tools typically produce — the wins and the failure modes — rather than only their luckiest output.

Words, not scores

You will not find a number out of ten here. Image quality is a judgement call, and a fabricated decimal only disguises that. We say where a tool wins, where it loses, and who it suits.

Affiliate links, disclosed

Some outbound links earn us a commission. They never change a verdict, never buy placement, and never decide which tools we cover. The recommendation reads the same either way.

The approach

How we compare

Nothing exotic — just the same decisions weighed the same way each time, so the comparison holds up when a new model ships and we write it all up again.

01

Same questions, every tool

Each generator is judged on the same set of decisions — fidelity, style range, in-image text, anatomy, resolution, editing and licence — so the comparison is genuinely like-for-like rather than a list of unrelated feature tours.

02

Hands-on, plus the fine print

The write-ups draw on using the tools alongside their own documentation, pricing pages and published licence terms — not the marketing copy. Where a tool needs a workaround to shine, we say so.

03

Written in plain words

No scores out of ten, no leaderboards. We describe where each tool wins, where it falls apart, and who we would point at it, so the comparison still means something when a new model ships.

Pick your prompt, get a straight answer

No leaderboards, no ratings out of ten, no invented awards. Just editorial comparisons of what these generators put on the screen when you ask them the same thing.
